Nigerian Afro-fusion artiste, Burna Boy has made Africa proud with his recent nomination at the upcoming Grammy awards. The Ye hitmaker has earned for himself a nomination for the Best World Music Album with his ‘African Giant’ album.
African Giant has undoubtedly been one of the most popular and talked about albums on the continent this year, finding it’s way into and topping music charts worldwide. African Giant is Burna Boy’s fourth studio album and was released on 26th July, 2019 with 19 tracks and 6 hit singles including ‘Gbona’, ‘On The Low’, ‘Dangote’ and ‘Anybody’.
African Giant has since it’s release appeared in several music charts. It peaked at number 12 on Dutch Albums Top 100, Number 16 on UK Albums, Number 33 on Canadian Albums (Billboard), and number 54 on French Albums. It’s also appeared on Belgian Albums, Irish Albums, Swiss Albums as well as US Billboard 200.
Other Nigerian artistes who have earned Grammy Nominations in the past are King Sunny Ade (1984, 1999), Babatunde Olatunji (1998), Semi Mutiny (2003, 2010, 2012, 2014) and Seun Kuti (2019).
